Dana's Space8月2日 July 29Finally, I can walk around like a normal human being! I’m not sore anymore which is great cause I was able to dance around my room to my next song. I’ve never had so much fun by myself…okay, maybe I have…by singing in my car! What were you thinking?! Okay, bad joke. Moving on… I am honored & excited to be able to do a classic song by The Who. It’s so much fun & the lyrics are so relevant to this experience for me (and many others) in this industry. I’m hoping to deliver a vocally & physically rockin’ performance. I only want to do “Baba O’Reilly” justice. It’s been around twice as long as I have & deserves major respect. So, here’s to keepin’ a classic song classy. 7月25日 July 24Okay, I think I’ve got it. Some of these people that give me “constructive” criticism aren’t really whole-heartedly trying to help. (Thank you captain obvious). For me to be the youngest and trying all this for the first time, they feel that I’m undeserving. It’s their defense mechanism to point out my every flaw. That’s okay, I’m glad that I don’t get everything right the first time. That would be boring. And so what if I haven’t been a rocker my entire life? And so what if I gained this unbelievable opportunity at my age? I work just as hard as anyone here at perfecting my craft. So I do deserve to be here and I’m still positive about life.
I understand why a lot of people gang up on me, but it’s getting really old. I’m not going to sing, move, dress and speak to be like anyone other than myself. I think because I do things different, MY WAY, people get offended that I didn’t do or say what they would’ve. So if I don’t follow in your steps it’s wrong? And if I said something you wouldn’t have said, it’s embarrassing? Well, it’s my way now. At the end of the day I’m going to do what I feel is right and the opinion that matters most is my own.
Here’s to everyone that feels my flame. July 21Elimination: Whoa. That was a scary experience. I got the chance to watch my performance of Bon Jovi’s “It’s my Life” and wasn’t too impressed with myself. So, I know that I would be in the bottom three. Being that the guys in Supernova have suggested that I’m closer to a pop star, I assume I would be the one going home. I’m glad I was wrong. Now I’ve got to show them that I can learn and be molded into a better performer. And this is the best place to do it. This whole package is like Rock & Roll boot-camp for me. Standing there after Jenny, Josh and myself performed was the most humbling experience. I was prepared to go. Wow. Now that I’ve seen firsthand, what I think I’m doing wrong, I’m going to correct it. Hopefully the guys (Supernova) will approve of my improvements. We shall see. As frightening as that was, it’s only made me more determined. 7月14日 July 10Round two!
The second performance was unsurpassable! Everybody looked so good. We got to go shopping with a stylist, yeah that’s right. Since I got “Born To Be Wild,” I knew I needed boots, a corset & something with animal print (even if it didn’t show). Lucky for me, I found exactly that, with the help of Miles (thanks, you’re the best). So I went a little bit sexier than normal, but Supernova asked for edge, so that envelope needed to be pushed. Sorry Dad. : )
I’m not a little girl anymore, huh?
I’m truly impressed with how many of us went out of our normal box. And we got it done! It’s crazy, but I don’t really remember what I do on stage. I kinda remember head banging once & lovin’ up on Jimmy (might I add, in the most platonic way possible), but other than that, I’m blank. You just step on stage & the music takes you. I love that. There’s nothing like it. I want to do this for the rest of my life. July 7One man down.
So, we had our first elimination. Poor Matt. It’s an uncomfortable chopping block to be on, so I can only imagine how it feels to be asked to stand. We don’t know what the world likes, so every one of us felt vulnerable.
I hope that I don’t have to experience that first hand. For the entire show you watch people’s dreams coming true, but every week you have to see them being crushed. Scary, sad stuff.
I’m gonna keep on keepin’ on & not take one minute for granted. So grab some tissue & a party hat and keep watching. |
